It was lovely cruising down the Yarra River, listening to a very interesting commentary. The low profile boat only just skims under the very low bridges. The speed was perfect, great for seeing all the features of the river. The final approach to Williamstown was wonderful, looking to Commonwealth Reserve and back over Hobson’s Bay to Melbourne city. What a truly delightful little township is Williamstown. So much to explore that you won’t want to catch the first ferry back.

The commentary on the way to Williamstown was very interesting and informative, made all the more entertaining by the captain's humour. We enjoyed the experience very much. Only 2 negative things to mention... 1. There was no mention of where the tea and coffee was available on both trips. 2. On the return trip the older guy (deckhand, I think) was steering but was not paying full attention to watching the river. Quite often he had his head turned in conversation with the captain. Whereas the captain was absolutely diligent when controlling the boat. 3. Perhaps the captain could try slowing down his talk as he was hard to understand at times.

The trip was very informative thanks to Captain Jim’s clear description of the many features and history as we travelled to Wellington Point. Despite grey skies we were thankful only a shower or two fell. Thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and would recommend it highly
